Identify Key Planning Elements

Description: The first activity in any facility modernization is to identify all key elements of the job. Facility modernization may involve more than contracting for the redesign or expansion of the facility in response to the needs of a particular equipment acquisition program. It may involve integrating several modernization efforts in response to the needs of more than one resident equipment; separate facility modernization efforts in response to changing environmental and workplace safety statutes (e.g., handicap access, fire-suppression); the purchase of real estate to accommodate physical expansion; or the relocation and training of human resources.
